The proposed development of Fort Halstead and its surrounding land is a matter of concern to the Parish Council. At this time the owners of the site, Hines UK, has not submitted a planning application but has embarked on various consultations with District Councillors and local people.
Presentations Simon O'Donnell, Project Director of Hines UK, owners of the site, has given 2 presentations to members of the Working Group and councillors from Halstead, Chevening, Dunton Green, Knockholt, Otford, Riverhead and Shoreham Parish Councils.

A Vision for Fort Halstead Hines UK has prepared a brochure outlining its aspirations for the site, and the 1st presentation to the Working Group was based around this document. A Vision for Fort Halstead
Workshops Three presentations and workshop were held during April and May of 2008 at Fort Halstead . Parishioners from the surrounding parishioners were invited.
7102 invitations were sent out: approximately 750 people attended. The report of these pre-application consultations is available on the Fort Halstead website. Go to www.forthalstead.com, under Latest News click on Initial pre-application public consultation - read more.
Working Group A Working Group has been formed which is made up of two representatives from Halstead, Dunton Green, Knockholt and Shoreham Parish Councils. An observer from each of Chevening, Otford and Riverhead Parish Councils also attends.
The Working Group aims to produce a common working document, which can be used by all parish councils involved, when they are asked to comment on any planning application.
Planning Application Hines UK originally anticipated that a planning application would be lodged in March 2009 and that the Master Plan for the site should be ready by end 2008. So far, however, no Master Plan has been produced.
Members of the Working Group have also held meetings with both SDC Planning staff and the Local Development Framework Policy team, to discuss how current planning legislation applies to the Fort, and how it may potentially change in the future, within the LDF.
